Pall Mall Court is located between King Street and Marsden Street in the business core of Manchester.
The building Grade II listed and is in the Upper King Street Conservation Area.
Reid carried out extensive regeneration aimed design studies on the recently listed building and associated external spaces for Resolution Asset Management.
Internally the spaces at ground and lower ground levels remained unattractive to prospective tenants despite having been refurbished. This is because they lacked flexibility and remained disconnected due to constricted access provision. The brief developed by Reid was to investigate ways to open up the spaces and provide new independent access. This was especially relevant to the interface with the external public space where complex levels changes needed to be addressed to bring about change.
To assist the marketing of the spaces and to prove feasibility and viability, Reid designed a number of fixed use schemes including food retail, restaurant, office and specialist medical consulting rooms.
The brief also extended to regenerating the external piazza space. In addition to the benefits of improving connections and access to the spaces round the perimeter Raid proposed the construction of a new retail unit to complete the enclosure and provide additional life and vitality.
