Willow House is a single residence set in green belt. The brief to Reid Architects was to create a modern residence to accommodate extended family living.
The original cottage was radically reformed by removing the middle section of the building and replacing it with a double-height pitched section, with glazed gable ends.
With the introduction of modern materials such as stainless steel, zinc, glass and oak, and their contrast with the original red brick and stone tiles, the aesthetic of the house is transformed from traditional, to one which is highly contemporary. Internally, clean lines prevail; the oak cladding continues into the double-height reception space.
These, together with the white walls and grey limestone floor, create a sleek, yet warm interior.
'This is a crafted gem of a private house, in which every surface, inside and out, has been obsessively designed and tested by a talented architect and a demanding client. The attention to detail exhibited throughout the design is nothing less than exquisite.' - Macclesfield Borough Council
