Trinity Hotels has appointed Reid Architects to design a new 128 bed hotel in Newcastle in the north east of England. Situated on Melbourne Street the site is well placed for both business users and tourist venues on the river front.
The hotel is designed specifically for the Intercontinental Hotel Group and will be one of the first Staybridge Suites brand to be opened in the UK.
Staybridge is a 4 star brand offering longer stay accommodation. Each room is an integrated living space including cooking and working areas.
The design is sited on a prominent corner site and is built over a fragment of Hadrians Wall. Reid Architects carried out all negotiations with English Heritage to secure planning consent which included a structural solution by Shepherd Gilmour to avoid clashes with the remains of Hadrian's wall.
Contract value approx. £15m
